Star Ocean: The Last Hope

Well I've been playing this game off and on for a while now (mostly thanks to my 360 freezing up) and I have to say, it's an amazing game! The story is great, the graphics are pimp, and the side quests are HILARIOUS! I just beat the game myself (damn is it hard) and has plenty of bonus features after you beat it. Only two things I don't like about it. A) To craft you MUST be in your ship... even if that's 7 zones away. B) The game is so massive that it's spread across 3 disks. That doesn't sound bad but when you consider that when you go back to a planet that you had been on before that was, say on disk 1 and you are on disk 3, you are told to eject the disk and insert the first disk. This becomes annoying when you only went there for one item the shop has. >.< Other than those two things, I'd have to say it's totally worth buying. I'd also recommend any of the other Star Ocean games. I have played and beaten them all except First Departure and I'd have to say they are all masterpieces. Oh and if you do get this game, I hope you enjoy Reimi being pissed off, I did. lol

I've been wanting to try this game out, but I feel bad about starting into the series so late. I have borrowed 'till the end of time', but also bought Lost Odyssey in the same weekend, so it was put on the back burner. I can say that the game was extremely enjoyable, (especially with the voices turned OFF,) and I would like to play more into that series installment before I go next gen on the Star Ocean titles.

Have you played 'till the end of time? And how do the two games compare?

Till the End of Time is a good one as well. The battle systems in all of the series are basically the same but each are good in their own right as well. If you want to pick up at a good point, start with Star Ocean/First Departure or Second Story/Second Evolution. First Departure is a remake of the original Star Ocean and Second Evolution is a remake of Second Story. The basic time line for the series goes like this:

The Last Hope -> Star Ocean/First Departure -> Second Story/Second Evolution -> Till the End of Time.

If you want to play in the order of the storyline, you can but I started with Second Story.

Actually it goes:

The Last Hope (X360) -> Star Ocean/First Departure PS1/PSP) -> Second Story/Second Evolution (PS1/PSP) -> Star Ocean Blue Sphere (GBC) ->Till the End of Time (PS2).

Star Ocean/First Departure, Second Stoy/Second Departure and Star Ocean Blue Sphere are direct sequals. These 3 game happen during the same time era. Star Ocean 3 takes place 400 years later if i remember correctly. As for Last Hope i have no idea on the year or era its set in and if its a direct prequal to the first star ocean. I played First Departure, and Second Departure on PSP and am currently 15-20 hours in Star Ocean Til the End of Time. Once my Japanese improves i would like to play Blue Sphere, or if i could find a english patched version that be better. Last Hope i heard mixed feelings forexample my friend fell asleep playing that RPG, where as another loved it. So its all down to perspective i guess.

Hope that helps Wink
