Endgame/Event Statement

Post  Boza on Wed Dec 24, 2008 10:32 am

Hi all,

Over the last week or so personally I feel that I have been slapped in the face by a few members, I play this game for fun, the organising of events is something that I have not arrogantly taken up to get equip for myself or as some sort of ego boost. I've done this because people have asked for it & because im proactive & belive in this ls. I play this game for fun & relaxation, and over the last week both these things are swiftly being taken away from me. So let me try & clear afew things up:

Yes we have been organising events & endgame things such as Sky & Limbus as people have requested that they want to do this, outside of an endgame (sell your soul) atmospher.

Many of us have spent lots of time organising/researching/running these things, and thus far I think were achieving a happy medium of doing events that still go along with the fun ethos. Yes I appreciate fun doesnt always equal easy or involve no xp loss, or making total noob pratts of ourselves at times. But were learning & were getting better!!

This is not, nor will it ever be an endgame ls the events are 100% voluntary, this is the sole reason we run a points/priority system, yeah i dont like points systems either, but this means people can come or not & it is completley their own choice. If you do not wish to participate in events thats fine, there is no commintment to them & the ls recuitment remains open to anyone regardless of lvl, experience.

If one of the leaders approach you about coming to an event, we are not doing this to bully you into coming, the only reason we approach people is that several times people have said they didnt know an event was happeneing as they have not read the ls message & have not checked the forum. It also makes life easier in planning if we know who's coming in advance so we can work out jobs etc.

Yes you may be asked to attend in a job you would prefer not to be, tell me if this is the case & I will do my best to accomodate. But job selection can be the difference between winning & loosing. Do I want to come PLD to sky & work my arse of tanking, or do I want to come brd & sing a few songs & chill out... erm... brd lol. But this LS has always worked as a team to achive things & this is something we should be proud of, lets think about what "we" are trying to do and not let all the sacrifices come from the same people all the time.

All leaders are open to discussions on things, if theres something that you have concerns over talk to us if we dont know we cant do anything about it! This LS has been working because we all talk & we dont bitch & moan behind peoples backs, I try my best to involve people who want to be involved & be supportive of everyone in the LS, as do the rest of the leaders.

Ref Dyna: Dyna is done with Bismarkdynamis LS this is not my ls nor do I have any involvment in the running of it, I will no longer approach anyone to see if they want to come to dyna, everyone now knows when it is & most that are interested have a pearl. Please redirect any concerns to their ls leader Splashy.. (thingy, cant spell it).

That being said if you need any advice about your role in dyna or basic questions I'm happy to help where I can, but anything ls related please see splashy.

Ref Limbus: We seem to be suffering from a pretty low turn out with limbus, which I appreciate its frustrating for people that do turn up. A few possible suggestion:
That we either postpone runs until we have more people that have sea & wish to come & use sunday evenings as an additional sky day.
We keep going & stick to the easier zones until members build up.
We move to a different time or do improptue limbus when we have people on.

Im open to ideas & imput from people so please comment away.

If you have any concerns over anything I have said here, or anything else, feel free to post a reply, pm me, or talk to me when im ingame, I'm always happy to talk to any of you when Im not busy doing something & always try to make time if someone raises a concern.

Hey Boza I understand your concerns and to be honest it's impossible to accommodate everyone. Having a poll like you have in this thread should help in deciding what events can be done and when. Doing it this way lends to the majority rule which should be ok. Don't stress yourself over this, you're doing all you can. If I can help out in any way let me know.

I agree the same with Anuja. Not easy to please everyone. Everyone have differnt time zones and diffrent lives. But i Realize in this LS that when we do get together things are accomplished the best way it can be. I have not felt stressed being in this LS. But then again i have been playing a while. If it can be done then its done, if not then we get it the next time, no stress. But by you haveing a pole can probly help to make the best choice for you as leader and for everyone else. Dont let it be a stressful thing. this LS so far by my understanding is fun, relaxing, and quite socialble. Cool But do want to help in the best way i can to relive any stress. The more diffrent people are into doing diffrent things the more things are accplished and people needs are reached.

as boza said this isnt a endgame LS and isnt going to become 1 , when we toyed with the idea of makin this LS we said from start ppl of all lvls & experience would always be welcome provided they fitted in with the ethos of the shell. I personaly think we have struck up a nice balance between achieving some end game stuff ,but not turning it into a must attend military event, as boza put it w/o sellin our souls.

ive been in about 4 main Ls's since i have played FFXI , and this is by far the most relaxed LS i have been in where you are still able to achieve things. I guess what im saying is im happy with my lot , and keep up the good work boz , much appretiated to us sky noobs.

My only concern is you getting stressed, Boo Sad

I don't have Limbus or Sea and really don't feel 'ready' for any endgame stuff--even Dyna, though I am doing those runs. If you decide to do more sky runs, if I'm available I will come and if the times are set, I will plan accordingly. When I finish the required missions to access other areas, I will help as best I can-- and...it just is not a priority to stress over getting things done. don't want this game to feel like a job Shocked After a year it is still fun and I want to keep it that way!

I enjoy this LS, the people, the relationships, the friendships... if game goals starts to override those things... well... I might need to see a shrink Suspect Smile

LOL this wasnt a "feel sorry for me" fishing experdition.

Its not the shell or the events that stress me out really, just somethings that have been said, some things that I felt needed to be clarified, and some way to limit the inordiante amount of tells I get daily ref events.

If im honest I could feel my temper being to flare abit with some of the comments that have come my way of late (which isnt like me) & felt that some of these things needed saying for my own sanity lol.

As ls's go, this is the best 1 i've been in since I started playing, which is nothing to do with me, but to do with the members that make it a fun place to be. The fact that people want to learn and achieve things rather than rotting in their mog house's moaning that they cant get a party, is great! And I will do whatever I can to provide help with things that people want to do.

We work well as a team & manage to on the whole muddle though & obtain sucess, with very rarely a cross word. Such as in sky last night, people leared amazingly fast & by the 2nd run we rocked it!

I just want to really remind people of our intentions, of our ethos, and have a rant cos i was getting pissed off lol!

I'll stop waffling now^^

Merry xmas everyone Smile

I didnt vote, because I am NO where close to being able to even sniff at any of this, but wanted to comment, that THIS IS A GAME!!!! Boss, you are loved, and you have done an amazing job at throwing together, not just a LS, but a community on very short notice.

PLEASE turn off the game, kiss the wife, and go snuggle up and watch a movie. We are all grown up peoples in this game, and can understand that we wont always get our way, nor will we be able to do everything with everyone at anytime of the day or night.

I just needed to chirp in that this place ROCKS! and I am very happy to be here.

Thanks for being a good leader boss man.

I personally like the Linkshell's relaxed attitude towards "Endgame", unfortunately im still a 'little' off SEA, so il join you all when i can, as to SKY, im just there for the experience, im no way experienced enough to be in a Full EndGame shell and appreciate Boza and co taking the time to source info, explain strategies, etc. I can't comment on others in the shell but i like the chance to join in these events and having a good turn out makesi t all worth while.

Anyway Hope Everyone Has A Good Xmas Very Happy

I think a lot of people really want Endgame gear but have no idea what it is like to sacrifice your RL and game time day after day week after week in order to have the chance to camp for hours on end to get the one mob you want botted away from you by a competing ls. Or the one piece you want given to another.

It's one thing to say I want it is another to do. And if anyone has a hard time comprehending that then feel free to go to the Aery and stand there every day for a month three hours a day and get 0 from the experiance but some pretty screen shots of someone getting breathed or winged.

If we can hold onto the relaxed enjoyment of the ls while getting some nice gear for all along the way that is the much better option.

If someone doesn't think that is the right idea and can only think about gear then I can tell you to try sleeping on your couch for three months with your headset on so you could wake up to a or to a disembodied ventrillo voice so you can stumble and trip while getting to the comp because Aspid just popped and 6 people including yourself in your ls want a Dalmatica.

The true essance of endgame - you sacrifice your enjoyment of the game your sleep and your real life commitments for a virtual piece of gear.

Been there done that no thanks - in the end the people that you laugh with here is the only thing that truly matters.
