ive cleaned the disc several times and tho it has a mark or two i would be surprised if thats what was causing it, any help appreciated as im nearing the kick it till it works or explodes stage.
ok it just failed at 54mins again gonna try it 1 last time, if it fails now im going to try again tmoro if i get the same results i may be done with ffxi for good, if thats the case ill pop back in to say goodbye.
take it easy peeps.

don't know what to say Tric. I know SE sucks a lot of the times, but so does XBOX. Maybe you will change your mind later. I hope so.

ok i tried another 4-5 times today with exact same results. im not willing to go spend another £30-£40 to find out if its the disc or another fault
so i guess this really is good bye thanks everyone for the laughs adventure and lots of deaths. Sorry to be just quiting like this when we had plans but ive had more than enough of SE/microsoft. Im off now to get my commodore 64 out the loft and see does that still work
take it easy everyone good luck .

Re: delete cache
Tric!
I think you are just very frustrated, and need to take a break from the mind splitting, emotion grinding activity of trying to fix a busted system. Unplug it, play Com64, take a nap, take a walk, talk on the phone, and eat cookies. Take a few days to sit and scratch yourself and drink beer, and then...pick it up and try again. There are ways to clean a disc. Take it to the sunlight, and tip it so you can see how scratched it is, then take WHITE PASTE tooth paste, not the gel stuff. put blops of it on the readable side of the disc, and make small little gentle circles on the disc. NOT up and down or side to side, GENTLE circles. This will remove a factory layer that gets put on the disc, and removes a ton of surface scratches. when done rinse very well under cool water, and dry with a lint free cloth, like a T shirt. Put between the layers of the shirt and press and dab, DONT rub. it will add more scratches if you do. Once dry take a look while in sun light, and you will see how many scratches are now gone. This should help any player re read a disc that was once covered in finger oils, or scratches.
Start at Square one, and go back to the begining, and try again.
We would miss you greatly. Completely understand if you chose to walk away, but please do it after careful thought, and reflection, not out of anger. take break, read a book
then come back and try again. Still not working
take another break.
After some rest, and time off
you will be able to figure it all out.
Dont go away mad.
Just take a break

Re: delete cache
if the disc isnt being recognized after the clear cache you need to reformat no matter of cleaning the disc will help. I had a brand new disc no scratches unreadable after clearing cache after formatting popped disc in and read it right away. SE made a big mistake in where they placed ffxi on the harddrive. Even recovering a gamertag will cause ffxi and pol viewer to be erased from the disc or if you press Y to go to the dashboard while in ffxi then pol veiwer and ffxi are deleted once again not sure if these issues affect people that havent cleared their cache but this is what ive found after having to clear mine after when i got it back from being fixed for the red ring of death. Thing that sucks the most is i cant install ffxi to the harddrive with the xboxs feature so disc always spins leading to another red ring of death later on down the road. Hopefully one day SE and microsoft will get on the same page between xbox version, hackings and verified by visa/secure mastercard programs are killing the player base

Re: delete cache
to chaos , yeah mate emm got hacked few days ago , no idea how, as she doesnt type her password in and doesnt use 3rd party software just another example of SE incompetence topped off with total frustration at trying to reinstall 360 version. think ive paid them more than enough money for a shoddy service that had it been in any other sector they would have been told to go fu<k off a long time ago.

The lens could be the thing mate, not sure how long you had your 360. If you tried the things stated here then it could well be your 360. I have a spare HDD with FFXI on it (needs updating a bit though), i could send you that to see if that makes any difference? then once you sorted your issue just send it back. Let me know. Also PM'ing you about another topic so let me know.
As for emmi sorry to hear that mate, i know the feeling and its horrible, we have plenty in the shell to help her get back on her feet

Re: delete cache
Also mate i know this is stating the obvious, but have you tried it on another X360? The install process i mean? Thats always the first place to start to eliminate the prospect of it being your machine.
